Monica comes to RICARES from Oregon and has over ten years of progressive operational and program experience in innovative non-profits where she has been responsible for developing and implementing systems, processes and programs with a relational focus. Prior to joining RICARES, she served as Operations Director at a Family Shelter in Portland, OR.

Ian Knowles

Ian Knowles

Ian has worked for over 40 years in the substance use disorder field as a case manager and a clinician. He was the Administrator of Community Services at the R.I. Department of BHDDH and is a past RICARES Executive Director. He Serves on the Board of the New England Institute of Addiction Studies and on the Rhode Island Chemical Dependency Professional Licensing Board.

Diego Arene-Morley

Community Engagement Coordinator

After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Public Policy from Brown University, Diego served one tour with AmeriCorps in Central Falls, RI as a school-teacher. Diego coordinated the first interfaith memorial ceremony for victims of overdose and addiction in Rhode Island with Faith Infused Recovery Efforts (FIRE). It was the first ceremony of its kind in the country. “{A} If you reside in Rhode Island, you are a Rhode Islander. {B} Diego lives in Rhode Island.{A+B} If you live in Rhode Island, surely, Diego is your neighbor.”

Michael Galipeau

Michael has a history of work with medication assisted recovery and harm reduction as early as 2006, in San Diego, CA. Michael holds a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Rhode Island College where he is an inducted member of the Alpha Sigma Pi honors society and graduated Summa Cum Laude, class of 2017. Michael believes that all individuals in recovery deserve to have safe, affordable, comfortable accommodations to promote the kind of healthy lifestyle and balance required to be successful in maintaining recovery.
